The original 2D artwork was created by Andrew, of course. I merely “pulled up a Z” and rendered it in Cinema4D.

Merry Christmas!

We’re having a quiet Christmas this year. Yay! We just shared Christmas kisses with Jeri and Andrew. We are lucky to be able to count them among our very best friends.

Bruce!

There isn’t a lot I can say here that hasn’t been said far more eloquently by Bruce’s friends and family, so I’ll let the images do most of the talking. Kelly and I laughed out loud while looking at these. We hope you will too. You are a big part of the fondest memory of…

You Can Do It Too!

I made this totally original motivational poster for my company last weekend. Model Marina was awesome. She really nailed the part. Shot with a $95 lens and hand-held FourSquare against a yellow wall in the office. PhotoShop makes it perfect.

Happy Halloween!

Meet Guanine, Cytosine, Adenine and Thymine — who sometimes pose as Grace, Shauna, Lauren and Phoebe.

Sophie

It’s hard not to get a good shot when your subject is as cute as Sophie, but there’s something else I like about this shot, and that is that is was not a posed shot. I saw her sitting there and took two quick shots in the (indoor) available light. Snap, snap! It took three…

Last Night at San Gregorio Beach

I’m pretty happy with this shot of my wife with her parents and best friends Jeff and Wendy. To make it, I used my new FourSquare lighting system, held high above my head while I clutched the D3 with the other hand and snapped this about 30 minutes after sunset. The colors in this one…

Lovely to See you Again My Friend

It really was most excellent to finally see you again, Amy. You obviously haven’t lost your terrific smile or your love of life. I’m delighted to hear that you’re doing so well with your business – Pieh Tool Company. I can’t say I know of another woman with her own line of custom tools and…

Rider in the Rain

Determined to get a look at Bandit under control of a more skilled rider, (thanks, Hannah!) Kelly and Stella brave the rain and fog at Skyline Ranch this morning.

Brad Pitt Movie Premier in Oakland!

Some of us were a bit disappointed by the missing Ms. Pitt, but I guess this (incredibly good-looking) dude will do in a pinch. And yes, of course, I’m referring to thedude sparking up Oaksterbong!

thedude Meets The Man

I’m very lucky to be involved with the design and rendering of the 2012 Burning Man. I can’t show you the rest yet, but soon after this year’s Man burns, I’ll share more.

Another PGM Rendering

Most of you have noticed that I haven’t been posting a lot lately. The main reason for this is that I am so busy at work. When I’m not tending to IT tasks, I use every spare cycle rendering one thing or another. I really love doing this work, but it consumes a lot of…

More from Wyoming

Some of my favorite shots from our trip. Thanks to all of you. What a great time.

Welcome to Panorama Country

Jackson Hole experienced its greatest snow accumulation ever this year, and we were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. I’m posting these images super large this time so you can check out the details. (I’ll add GPS info as soon as I get a chance.)   The images in…

The Lobby With Lighter Colors

I’ve actually started a blog for my neighbors to gather opinions about possible color schemes for our remodel. Here’s another of several examples. After I rendered this one, I realized that there is a light leak from the right. The small amount of light leaking in from the blue sky accounts for the green tint…

Point Arena, 2011

Thanks Tom and Julie, for including us in your trip fabulous food-filled trip up nort’. The whole weekend was fabulous. Steaks on the grill, shopping in Mendo… But that meal at Cafe Beaujolais was one of the most memorable ever. Awesome.

Our New Favorite Shot of Bandit

We look forward to the summer when he’s shed all of his winter coat and the trails have dried up so we can get an even better shot of horse and rider, but we both like this one a lot! This image also marks the first time I used a new GPS device form BlueSLR….

Wisconsin Winter Weather Woes

Access to one of the most important destinations in Burlington, Wisconsin has been hindered by a four foot snow drift. My forecast is that thirsty residents will grab their shovels and clear a path to their beloved watering hole by beer-thirty.

Jim and Jerry

One of these dudes is not the leader of the world’s eighth largest economy. Spotted at Mua a couple nights ago.

Warmest Day of the Year

Jim Rowe’s visit is coinciding with some spectacular Bay Area weather. The high temperature in Oakland was only in the upper 50’s, but in the warm sun it felt like 75. Perfect weather for oysters on the pier at the Lake Chalet. Later, we went up to Skyline Ranch to visit with Kelly and Bandit.

Our White Christmas

I was not looking forward to driving 5 hours to Shaver Lake to be held prisoner in a cabin in the snow, but that’s not how it turned out at all. The holiday I dread the most turned out to be more than tolerable this year. At times, it was actually fun. The food and…

Wrong Place, Right Time

This rainbow peaked while I was on the Embarcadero in the city on my way to the top floor of the Transamerica Pyramid. The shot might have been better from almost any other vantage point – assuming that a rainbow was actually visible from any other vantage point. This beauty lasted all of two minutes….

Introducing Bandit

Kelly’s childhood dream finally comes true! Accompanied by their official photographer, Kelly and Bandit took a short ride on this sunny, 70 degree day. Looks like Bandit and Kelly are getting along splendidly. Many thanks to the great folks at Xenophon Therapeutic Riding for all of the support. Without your help, this would not have…

Best “Thanks For Shopping” Letter Ever

Kelly received this after buying a bridle for Bandit this afternoon. Thank you from Action Rider Tack! Today your order was lovingly removed from our shelves by Julie, our Product Specialist, and placed into our velvet-lined wheelbarrow. Our 5-member equine team, headed by Royale Rouge, inspected your items to make sure they were in the…

Light Painting

I was motivated to take a few shots during a 6 – 1/2 hour power outage last night. I figured the unusual lighting might produce some interesting results. I brought along a flashlight so I could see where I was walking, and figured it might be fun to try and do add drama to my…
