I really wish I could take credit for thinking of this first. Instead, I drew inspiration from this Flickr gallery. Some of the “backgrounds” on the Flickr site look a bit too good to be true, but these are real! The only adjustment was to the hue.
I like this effect so much, I can’t wait to try it at work! :-)

I guess this word has been in the Oxford English Dictionary for years now, but I just realized it. D’oh!

Finally! An Internet radio station we can both tolerate. Radio Paradise has a real live DJ, which seems to make a huge difference over machine-generated ramdom playlists. User supported, no ads, everything from Emmylou Harris to King Crimson. Tune in now!

Our friend Neil at M.A. Silva Corks was kind enough to give us free tickets to a fun event at Fort Mason in the city this afternoon. Wine tasting with the Rhone Rangers was very cool. We ran into a couple friends and found a few new wines. (I heartily recommend the delicious Fess Parker Syrah.) Fortunately, the weather man was totally wrong. The forecast called for rain, but as you can see, it was a lovely day.

Our friend Chris told us last night over mai tai’s at the Conga Lounge that March 11, 2005 was the hottest March 11th ever in the Bay Area. The record-setting 86 degrees surpasses the previous record high of 80 degrees set exactly one year earlier. Forcasters are predicting cooler weather for the rest of the week, but today’s weather was perfect dor a trip to the fabulous Oakland Zoo.

The zoo recently expanded their world class elephant compound to six acres, which makes it the second largest in the country. It’s really nice to see all of the work being done to make the zoo even better than it already is. Of course, my favorite activity at the zoo is taking the leisurely sky ride to the top of the hill and back. Beautiful!

We always love seeing our friends Steve (The Laminator) Billings and his lovely girlfriend Debra. Tonight’s visit was particularly nice because he brought his very cute daughter Hillary, and her cool boyfiend Josh.

Tonight is one of the warmest nights of the year - AND it’s not raining - so it’s up to the roof for a quick sunset photo shoot!

I’m quite pleased with the results, and feedback has been almost 100% positive. Some feel that I should mount it, but that would add significantly to the cost, and well… it simply ain’t gonna happen. Not for the office. Not worth it.
On the home front, we double-matted, framed and hung our elephant painting in our long hallway. (Yes, the Bali honeymoon images that have hung there for nearly four years are finally being replaced!) The results are spectacular, if you don’t mind my saying so. I’m having an orchid shot printed large for the bathroom, and I’m creating two large (22″ x 44″) collage sort of posters that will flank the elephant painting in the hallway. Work on the collage that will hang to the left of the painting is complete. When I get motivated and complete the other one, I’ll post results here.
