The Day Started Out Well Enough…
Of course, after breakfast at Paragon, wine tasting at Rosenblum, sushi at Tachibana and not one, but TWO strong mai tai’s at the Conga Lounge, we all felt a teensy bit thrashed by the end of the day. Good thing I won’t be seeing these people again for almost four whole weeks! ;-)
Nikon D70 + SB-800 Flash
I may have finally found the perfect hardware combination for shooting birdie pictures. My new Nikon and an off-camera flash unit. This is a first attempt - better results to follow. Oh, and sorry if another picture of a ding-dang bird is the last think you want to see on my blog, but they do make interesting and challenging subjects. You have no idea just how fast these guys move until you try to shoot them - with a camera, I mean! ;-)

I Just Can’t Seem to Get Rid of This Guy!
What Was I Thinking?
My Grandmother’s Name Was Phoebe
These incredible pictures of a celestial body bearing her name orbiting around Saturn - nearly a ka-jillion miles from here - made me think of her - and of all the wonders of the heavens.
I Will Work for Food
Great Food and Fun
We definitely should do this more often. Thanks, Steve and Diane for allowing us to trash your pad!
One thing is for sure - my camera is performing beautifully after my little adjustment! This is very good news since I’ll be shooting a couple weddings soon. :-)
For Medical Use Only
Are we really that far from some form of real decriminalization of this harmless plant?
Our New Favorite Hangout
The Conga Lounge is fast becoming our favorite after-work destination. The delicious and powerful Mai-Tai’s with fresh mint are two bucks cheaper during happy hour wich runs from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. The place has an intimate feeling that we both love. There is always island music playing in the vintage stereo and and a cheesy 60’s flick on the TV. Bartender Paul and my favorite hostess Meg provide excellent service. There are yummy appetizers at the bar, and if you get really hungry, just ask for a menu from the downstairs restaurant - Pizza Rustica. Tonight we tried the smoked salmon and creme fraiche pizza. YUM!
See you on Wednesday or Thursday nights at the Conga Lounge!
Why I Love Living Here
I took this shot of my fabulously talented and entertaining neighbor Andrew and his beautiful daughter Ursula in front of one of his latest works - developed, partly from a picture I shot. (This canvas will be glued to the wall of a hospital waiting room.) What a fantasic way to begin the day!!! What an honor to be part of it all. I’m only sorry I didn’t work Barbara into the shot somehow. Next time.
