This is Not Kelly’s Car!

My new car is so much fun to drive, she may never give me the keys!

smart_1As one of the 30,000 people who put $99 down on a Smart Car in advance of their U.S. debut, I never thought I’d actually buy one. But then it showed up at the dealership, configured exactly as I had ordered it on line, I figured, what the heck, I’ll go check it out. Well, it just took one look and I was hooked. Not only is it hilariously cute, but it’s a blast to drive – especially with the top down! The car is still rare enough to cause a sensation everywhere it goes. I spend almost as much time describing the car to strangers as I do driving it. What fun!

Thanks, Kelly and Bailey, for modeling so obligingly. Now, can I have my keys back – please? 🙂

Well, we have the Fagans here for dinner, and we’re LOVING your new car. We’ve decided that you could strap your new car on the Jimmy or tow it behind the AirStream, for maximum performance. It’s adorable!!!! Do you need a can opener to get into it? Jeff says he’ll race you for “pinks” on the barstool….LOL

    Love ya,

Wen, Bimbo, Cinderella, Ferd, Ffej and Jeff……..:-)

I’m sorta big, so I guess I’ll need two LOL!

I saw these when I was in Europe and they are as cute as a button (a small button, but a button anyway)!

    Have fun with it.

    love ya, Bruce

There is also a ‘roadster’ version of the car, which is cute and fun to drive: http://www.carpages.co.uk/smart/smart_roadster_review_part_1_07_02_04.asp

And have you been hit by the G-Wiz yet? It looks just like the little car Mr Incredible drives:

I would love to own one of these but having a child makes this car not feasible for me. My car was recently totaled in an accident and I was in the market to buy a new car. I looked at the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid first as I wanted something that got just as good if not better MPG than my last car (2005 Toyota Corolla S 37-38 MPG). I had a really hard time finding a Prius that was even available and just this past Saturday bought a Civic Hybrid. It is rated at 40 MPG/city and 45 MPG/hwy. The dealer has heard sotries of people getting 50+ MPG in these. I would love to get that.

Anyway, I love the car Jim and hope you enjoy it. The openness of the top looks like it would make it a fun driving car.
