I was lucky enough to hitch a ride with two friends on their way to Napa this morning. Mark, Chris and I took off from Oakland at 11:30 this morning and flew a lazy, twisty route to an airstrip close to Jerry’s property for a midday rendezvous.
We enjoyed perfect weather, which gave me the chance to snap a few aerial shots of the Bay Area. I took some shots of our loft and the Oakland Estuary from 1400 feet. I got my best look so far at the new Bay Bridge construction. (I can see it’ll be a while before it’s finished.) As we flew north and west, we were all amazed at the range of colors in the ocean, rivers and inlets. Depending on the angle of the sun, the water ranged from a muddy green to a brilliant turquoise. Beautiful.
A short hour later, we arrived at Angwin Airstrip where we were met by Kelly and Ben. From there, we drove to Jerry’s – who spoiled us with a delicious lunch and a cool swim in his amazing spring-fed pool.
Thanks so much, Mark for offering me a seat on your plane. Jerry – lunch was delicious. We look forward to seeing all of you again!
Whew, it’s a rough life you two live there….how DO you stand it? 🙂 Great shots dude…I love the city skyline with all the summer fog in the background……loverly…..
