This was shot inside one of the five prayer halls flanking the pagoda. I have some nice shots of the pagoda itself which I will publish in a day or two. I think this one needs to stand alone.
You can’t see it well in the gallery shot, but like many of the Buddha’s we saw, this Buddha has a brightly colored swirling, LED halo. It’s the sort of thing you might expect to see in an Asian disco, and to me, it’s a strange mix of the very old and the very new.

This is incredible. What is in the display cases?
The cases contain beautiful gold Buddhas. You can get a better look at them in this shot. Also notice the glass fish tanks on the floor. These are used for cash collections and are a fixture at every temple, monastery – even at the shopping malls. Some of the glass tanks have quite a lot of cash in them, and can be opened easily or are not even covered at all. There is absolutely no way anyone would ever steal from them. Amazing.
