If you have an HDR monitor like the Apple XDR display, you will immediately know what this post is about. Those of you with “normal” displays may see a difference, but it may not be that obvious.
This post is made possible by a confluence of very cool things. My neighbor bought a new camera and shot this image containing washed-out highlights, Adobe Camera Raw can export images in AVIF HDR format, there is this easy-to-use AVIF plugin for WordPress, and and Chromium-based browsers can now display HDR images! What a time to be alive!
In time, I may post a bit more about how these things all came together to change my web site forever, but now it’s time for dinner.
