Way back in 2007, an extremely talented illustrator named Charlie Powell offered to paint a portrait of thedude. I’m a huge fan of his work, so when he offered to do this in exchange for some basic web hosting services, I jumped at the chance. I have always loved the painting. It’s been hanging here in our hallway ever since. I think the painting is great. I will always cherish it.
That said, I’ve been working (playing?) so much with AI tools that I thought I’s see if I could update the image to incorporate a few changes in my life while not disrespecting Charlie’s awesome work.
First, anyone who knows me knows that I wear Hawaiian print shirts almost every day. Also, I can no longer drink red wine, and it’s been years since I used Nikon cameras. (I’m a Fuji guy now.)
To accomplish this, I used the amazing Krea edit tool to replace the shirt, camera and wine glass. This worked very well. Next, I used the modified image as a “seed” image for Flux. I used the following for a prompt:
caricature, acrylic painting of a man sitting at a small table holding a glass of white wine. on the table there is a digital camera and an Apple laptop. digital art
Finally, I used the Krea Enhance tool to give the image a more painterly look.
This work was done entirely with Krea and tools (no PhotoShop!) and took about half an hour.
How did I do? I think the results are nothing short of amazing. What do you think?
