Freeway Collapse
A few folks have asked about this. Unfortunately, I can not get to a position to take better shots. (I REALLY need that press credential.) You can get the whole story - and better pictures - on sfgate.
I am amazed at the amount of damage one carefully placed tanker full of gasoline can cause to an overbuilt earthquake-resistant concrete and steel structure. The already nasty commute will now be even worse for Bay Area commuters for months to come.

I assume you are going to become a BART expert! Will this affect yours or Kel's commute?

Well, you know how the the media LOVES these "disaster" stories. in fact, no one was killed, and the commute this morning was wonderful. It seems that everyone braced for the worst, and took maas transit - as they should be doing every day anyway. It helps that all forms of mass-transit in the Bay Area are free today...
All in all, there are a rather small number of people who will be adversely affected by this - commuters who drive from San Francisco to certain destinations in the East Bay. So, if you live in say, Orinda, and work in the city, your evening commute will likely be pretty nasty. Otherwise, the effects of this will be no where near as bad as our disater-crazed media would like them to be.
