I found an inexpensive MOV to FLV converter which produces pretty decent results. The files are much smaller that the source Quicktime files, and still have much of the quality – even at large sizes. This means I can now stream video like this time-lapse of my commute to work directly from thedude.com. New possibilities!

I shot the sequence with a Nikon D3. I used Graphic Converter on my wife’s iMac to assemble the images into a Quicktime movie, and Flix Standard FLV converter to convert the .MOV to .FLV.

Dear Dude – I watched your commute to work with great interest and great concern for your driving technique. It may be a Smart car but … But certainly a cool bit of streaming video.
