I have the incredible fortune to know one of the most gifted photographers alive – Mark Downey. Mark recently earned “Photographer of the Year” honors from the Society of American Travel Writers. He’s not only a fabulous photographer – he also writes. A truly gifted individual.

Mark lives just 10 minutes away in Alameda. And so, over pad thai a few nights ago, I offered to scan some of his gorgeous transparencies on a Nikon 8000 film scanner if he allowed me to post some of the results here. He agreed. 🙂 Thanks Mark! You will not find examples of Mark’s work at this resolution anywhere else.
